Aikido is a Japanese martial art that isn’t about strength or victory, but rather about using your opponent’s movement and energy and directing it harmoniously. It’s suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels—whether you’re physically active or just getting back into exercise.
At our dojo in Oberhausen, we train in a small, close-knit group. Our experienced instructor guides you step by step—from the first basic techniques all the way to the dan exams. New members are always welcome, regardless of their skill level.
Whether you want to relieve stress, sharpen your focus, or simply seek a new athletic challenge—Aikido brings body and mind into harmony. See for yourself and try out a class with no obligation.
Our classes are based on Dento Iwama Ryu Aikido, the traditional style from Iwama, Japan. We place special emphasis on balancing unarmed techniques with those using the staff (jo) and wooden sword (bokken). Weapons training (Buki-Waza) takes place before body technique training (Tai-Jutsu) and is an integral part of every session.
